A high-level dialogue bringing together European institutions, civil society and the pro bono community.

On Wednesday, 21 October, the 58th Italian Pro Bono Roundtable will bring together in Milan a distinguished panel of speakers for, among other sessions, the seminar “Organised Civil Society and the Social Economy: the Role of Pro Bono in Building an Integrated For-Profit/Non-Profit Ecosystem”.

The discussion will focus on the recent European Union measures concerning organised civil society and on Italy’s National Action Plan for the Social Economy, adopted by the Government last July. The seminar will provide an opportunity to explore how these regulatory and policy developments are reshaping the relationship between the for-profit and non-profit sectors, and the role that pro bono can play in this evolving landscape.

The seminar will open with remarks by Rosalba Striani, Head of Unit for Fundamental Rights Policy and Free Movement at the Directorate-General for Justice and Consumers of the European Commission.

The discussion will then feature Luigi Bobba, President of Fondazione TerzJus ETS, Giulia Patanè, Program Director: Europe at PILnet, and Giovanni Carotenuto, President of Pro Bono Italia ETS, and will be moderated by Chiara Capalti, member of our Board of Directors.

This will be a valuable opportunity to hear authoritative and complementary perspectives and, together with professionals and organisations working in these fields every day, to explore the future of collaboration between organised civil society, the social economy and the for-profit sector.

During the Roundtable, we will also provide an update on the CSOs’ Legal Health Check project, developed by our Association in collaboration with PILnet and with the support of Civitates – The European Democracy Fund. The project has already entered its operational phase, involving 7 non-profit organisations, 8 law firms and numerous in-house counsel, with the aim of strengthening the legal and organisational frameworks of civil society organisations.

Participation, either in person or via streaming, is free of charge, subject to registration through the form below.

The event has been accredited by the Milan Bar Association, and participation entitles attendees to 1 (one) continuing legal education credit.
